Sri Nataraja Temple
Located in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, Sri Nataraja Temple is one of the ancient temples in Neyveli. The temple is stated to be more than 500 years old. The major speciality of the temple of the temple is the Lord Nataraja idol, which is said to be the biggest idol in the world. The other greatness of the temple includes, there is deities of Lord Chandrasekhara, Lord Vinayaka, Saint Manickavasagar, Mother Parvathi and author of the famous poem, Thiruthondar Puranam – Sekkizhar. There is also 63 nayanmars – salvite saints who are positioned in separate shrines. Devotees from all over the worship visit Sri Nataraja Temple and worship the saint that fits in their birth star to get their wishes recognized. The temple is open on all days and it is open for devotees from 6.00 A.M to 12.00 noon and from 4.00 P.M to 9.00 P.M. Some of the nearby temples are Patanjaleeshwar, Thillai Kali, Swarnapureeswarar, Kolanji Appar, Pralayakaleswarar, and Theerthapureeswarar.

You can simply walk down to the temple from the township as it is adjacent to NLC township. There are several hotels for accommodation near the temple. They are Hotel Vaigai, Hotel Woodlands, Hotel Suriya Priya, etc.
The afforestation station in Nyeveli serves as a best recreation spot for all age groups. It is well maintained by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) township administration. It covers an area of approximately 25 square kilometres in Neyveli. There is also an artificial lake and waterfalls constructed within 5 kilometres from the Neyveli airstrip. You can spend a lavish holiday in Neyveli with enjoying boating. There has several measures taken by the NLC to facilitate tourists. As lot of seasonal birds visit this beautiful green park, this place also serves as a small bird sanctuary.
