Society in Neyveli

Neyveli is one of the highly developed townships located in Tamil Nadu just 5 kilometres from Vadalur and 197 kilometres from Chennai. This township was once a small village, which has now developed into a city with holding a variety of features. Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is the major reason for the entire growth and development of Neyveli. NLC team members have taken several measures and steps to support the township employees as well its surroundings.

Neyveli is surrounded with a number of small villages. The societies in and around Neyveli help those people in a great way to help them to overcome their misfortunes. There are several charitable societies, non profit organizations and old age homes in and around Neyveli. It includes Neyveli Wealth Promotion and Social Welfare Society, Sneha Opportunity School, New Light Charitable Trust (Neyveli GH), Rural Organisation for Social Education (Vadalur), Madhar Nala Thoundu Niruvanam (Pathirikuppam), etc. 

This is one of the famous charitable trusts in Neyveli organizing a range of programs and services to the differently-abled people. The organization promotes vocational centres, health camps, welfare centres, medical help, AIDS care, charitable home, hospital care, CBR services, charitable homes, etc.  The New Light Charitable Trust runs programs and daily schools on community based rehabilitation, research on mental retardation, different disabilities, primary and secondary educational help, vocation rehabilitation, etc. this is a non profit Indian government registered trust. There are about six members as board of members who are basically from various fields and departments joined together to serve the society. If you are interested to contribute or planning on any new social programs, you can either contact or directly visit the trust, which they would give you better ideas. This social welfare organisation is run by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). NLC supports the entire lower income groups and underprivileged members located in and around Neyveli. Sneha opportunity services conducts various programs like training mentally retarded children on handicraft works to make their own living, encouraging handicapped children,  rehabilitation centres to help widows, handicapped and destitutes, educating hearing impaired through Shravanee – a specialised learning centre for hearing impaired children, etc.  Moreover, NHPSWS has helped in fixture of artificial limb that is since 1984 NHPSWS remains as an artificial limb centre for handicapped. They have manufactured and fitted around 226 artificial limbs and 2318 calipers to physically handicapped people for free of cost.  The welfare society encourages various ways to earn livelihood by indulging the underprivileged in cane weaving, food grain processing, binding, handicrafts, etc.
